The module is only a demonstration. It takes a data structure (sample in the module itself) and outputs a PI. The real working function is createPortable() , and main() does nothing but output the test PI if test=true. It obviously needs modification in order for it to work out of the box.
So in an infobox template you invoke the module and feed it the data structure. then in an article page you call the template and pass arguments as usual.
If I'm going to adopt this I'd have the structures stored in the module's subpages, and pass the subpage's name to the main function, which could then require() the subpage and feed it to createPortable().
I'm coming back to this idea for Unterganger infobox. even with PI markup it's looking very messy because there's still quite some parser functions embedded.
I think we can import the module to HPW, and write our own infobox definition thingy in a data module. I intend of also allowing functions in the definition table so that the module building the infobox doesn't have to know how to format specific things on specific infoboxes.
I prefer that we use the channel ID globally. This came from my experience working with YouTube's API for the List of Untergangers updater script.
The IDs for channels are permanent for each channel, and is the principal way of accessing the API. In the event that a channel later closes, or become suspended/terminated, we can detect that by querying the API with the channel ID (i.e. the details are gone but the ID persists, and the API throws an error).
Unfortunately, there's quite a few channels that we'll never know the IDs of on the List of Untergangers, only their old usernames, either because of typo or because the channel has closed. The API couldn't associate usernames of dead channels to their IDs.
I have been contemplating this for a bit, and I think it should be done.
I'm going to leave all of unterganging, including the wiki. I don't think this is healthy for me, and recent drama stuff have made me think my position in the community. Unmod me please. I'm sorry that I can't continue any longer, but my mind believes that this is the right choice for me.
If we were to have a medal icon for the Best Unterganger Award should we retain the one from the BNUU award or create a new medal? This is what I have in mind; a purple medal on a light blue background.
The fireworks GIF I found after just minutes of browsing, and it doesn't look really appealing to me personally. I was looking for one that only tile horizontally, and preferably one that actually animates the fireworks being launched. If you can help me find a GIF with that description, I'd seriously consider it.
